Our New Life?

November 26, 2017

Mom! Is this our new life? I hope you are feeling not so sad today. I know it was a sad day yesterday with your nephew Steve’s Memorial Service. I will make sure you get extra love today!

Speaking of love – I sure love my Dad and I’m so happy he’s feeling better today; and, I love sitting here watching the sun come up over the ocean, and hearing the roar of the ocean. Looks like the perfect morning for a walk on the beach after all the rain yesterday. Soon?!

Musings: Four Weeks With My New Family…

November 24, 2017

Today celebrates four weeks with my new forever family in my new forever home! Four weeks – can you believe this! I am such a happy and blessed puppy. I love my Mom and Dad, and my four siblings. I have learned so much, but know there is so much more to learn, and soon my Dad will be taking me to school. Although, as Mom explains it this will help Dad learn as well. (I think this is pretty funny!)

We have had a good week, even though I have been in a little trouble this week, but I sure gave Dad a good workout and chasing with him was so much fun! However, I am still on restriction and now I am connected to Dad’s GPS unit.. So much for running free as the wind! My siblings are accepting me more this week, we now fall to sleep together, and we are even starting to play together. I sure love having them in my life.

Today was especially fun! We went on a road trip and Mom and Dad brought me to see the Pacific Ocean!! It was almost dark when we arrived, so I am going to have to wait until tomorrow to go to the beach… My siblings love the beach and they told me that we will have so much fun, and Porsche said this is her favorite place to be. I heard Mom and Dad say they hope this won’t be her last trip. But if it is, I want to be sure it will be her best. Dad said I will still need to be on my lead when we go to the beach so I don’t run clear to Lincoln City! But I will get to see (and likely chase) a new bird called a Seagull and I will for the first time put my paws in the Pacific Ocean! I am sure Mom will take pictures of this – she takes pictures of me doing nearly everything! Such a silly Mom. She loves to take pictures of me!

It is time to say good night. Us Pups are going to go out to our fenced yard to do our business and then guess what – TREATS! We love our treats… We will then head to bed, while Mom and Dad play cards, a fire in the fireplace and the sound of the mighty ocean coming through the window.. Night all.

Musings: We’re Here!! Historic Nye Beach…

November 24, 2017

We’re Here! We arrived safely to Historic Nye Beach in Newport. Our place is right on the beach overlooking the ocean. We have to take a short walk to get to the sand. It is too dark now. But we will be out there first thing tomorrow! Mom found this place through VRBO and is is the neatest older cottage. It has a special room out front called a sand room and it is where we will get our feet wiped before coming in the main house – and it has a fenced yard where I can run.. Although, Mom is keeping a close eye on me in the event there are any gaps I could run through!

Mom this place is so cool! We are loving our getaway!  Thank you for finding a place that is pet friendly!! It was so cool all four of us pups could come. Too bad Miss Bentley doesn’t like to ride in the car or she could have come too!

Beach Trip! So Excited!

Road trip!! We love being in the car and Dad built us a special fort for the ride. Well at least three of us enjoy being in the car. My little brother Lincoln is usually pretty nervous about where we are going. But when he can see out he is calmer. Mom says we are going to a new place at the Beach – close to the ocean! I can hardly wait! I have never seen the Pacific Ocean!

Musings: Shelby Loves to Run!

November 23, 2017

My name as you know is Shelby. But did you know, I was named for the Shelby Cobra Mustang – sleek, fast and beautiful. My Dad named me.. and, today I lived up to my name – “an adrenaline-fueled experience while also producing that signature growl that will leave you breathless”. Well I didn’t growl, but I moved like the wind and I am pretty sure my Mom and Dad had their adrenaline levels on full alert! – and I had Dad pretty breathless!

The night before my arrival, my Foster Mom explained that I was a sweet girl, a loving little girl – but I was also a “bolter” – I love to run! and run! and run! I love the thrill of the chase and I love to feel the wind in my fur!! Mom and Dad have been so careful with me. But today, as they were leaving for their Thanksgiving dinner I saw my chance and I bolted past Mom and out the front door! I didn’t go far – across to the park and to the neighbors, but I gave Dad a good chase. I knew I was in trouble, I knew I shouldn’t be out without my lead, but this game of “keep away” was such fun!

The result – I spent a “time-out” in my crate, will wear my lead while I am in the house, will be restricted to a safe area when the front door is opened, and tonight Dad will be installing my own GPS Tile on my collar in the event I do this again. I am also pretty sure this will be a special lesson for us to focus on when I go to obedience school..

I didn’t mean to be a “bad girl” – I just couldn’t help myself – the lure of the open space was just too strong for me.. I am sorry Mom and Dad for being such a stinker today and frightening you when I took to the wind. I will try to do better!
