Musings: Meeting My New Doctor!

November 4, 2017

Today I met my new Vet, Dr. Zawadzki at MurrayHill Veterinary Hospital and as a special treat I also met Dr. Goodman. He is the found of the Clinic and one of Mom’s favorite doctors who took care of Beemer (he was the oldest brother) and Porsche when they were baby puppies.

Mom told me I was a really brave girl and I did really well with my “exam”. But my Mom was very sad, because Dr. Z confirmed what I had already told Mom that I was made pregnant when I was about five months. Mom is very sad that I had to go through this at such a young age. She thinks people who do these kind of things should be severely punished, but she told me that it makes her love me all the more.

Dr. Z is taking labs, but otherwise she gave me a “clean bill of health” other than a slight, and likely chronic ear infection. They still don’t have confirmation on my vaccines, so no shots today. We do know I was spayed and that I had a rabies shot in August. I even got my own insurance card through Trupanion!

Thank you Dr. Zawadzki and the MurrayHill team for taking such good care of me today!

Musings: My First Week – A Week of Firsts!

November 3, 2017

It has been an amazing first week in my forever home. Never did I ever imagine being so loved and feeling so safe.

A week ago tonight I arrived as a very scared little puppy. The place smelled different than anywhere I had ever been. There were two new humans, three other dogs and of all things a cat! I was so scared when I arrived that when my older brother, Tesla became grouchy at me, I first pooped (oh, it was smelly) and then I threw-up everything in my tummy. I was sure I would be sent packing and these humans would send me away, but instead, my new Mom calmly cleaned everything up and said to my new Dad, “our new girl is very scared” – Our Girl! What? Me? No one was upset with me and they called me “Our New GIrl”! After this my Dad washed my face and Mom had me take a nap with her and then I felt so much better and I realized I must be “home” – I had a new bed and even a new squeaky toy!

Mom and Dad spent the whole weekend with me and us kids, they even cancelled their dinner plans on Saturday so we could all be together as I settled in. Mom leaves early in the morning for a place called “Work” but when she leaves she kisses each of us kids and tells us she will be home – she is funny – she always says “God willing and the Creek don’t rise” – does she mean the creek in the Park? Dad stays home with us because he is something called “retired” which involves saws and nails. He sleeps in and I get to cuddle with him until it’s time to be up.. When he is gone running errands, I sleep in my new crate where I am safe and I can still see my siblings.

It was a week of firsts –
– my first new bed that is all mine (even though Tesla likes to sleep in this)
– my first Honest Kitchen dinner (oh it is so good!)
– my first real cat encounter – Miss Bentley is like none other
– my first Spa Day for a bath, haircut and a nail trim
– my first Halloween – even in costume!
– my first Road Trip with my siblings and my humans, and
– my first time sleeping between my Mom and Dad where I feel so safe and protected

I am getting to know my siblings and once I had a bath and haircut they seemed to accept me more as one of them. Our Dad takes us for walks around the block and in the Park, and I have learned that my big Sister is always to be the leader. I’ve learned she is a miracle puppy with cancer, she is my hero. Tesla is still a bit of a grouch, but less so and I have learned that he was a rescue like me, and had spent his first seven years in a cage – now I understand why he is a little grouchy with me; and Lincoln is still a puppy, who also came from a puppy place and can become very scared, but I almost got him to run with me – I am going to keep working on this!

Tomorrow I will have another first when I meet my new Vet Dr. Z and have blood work. Not sure what this is, but Mom said it will only be uncomfortable for a few minutes and I need to be a brave girl. I will even be getting my own insurance card – how cool is that! Mom and Dad said I will love Dr. Z!

I am pretty sure my Mom has posted way too many photos of me this week, and if so, forgive her. But I have already learned that she loves to take photos of us kids! So it is best to accept the inevitable.

Thank you everyone for all your sweet messages this week and helping me feel so welcome. I am one blessed puppy!

Good Morning – Day 7!

November 3, 2017

Good Morning. Today marks Day 7 in my new “forever home”! Wow! What an amazing seven days! Next to sleeping by my Mom, sleeping by Dad is my next favorite place to sleep. I feel so warm and protected. I never knew a Dad could be like this or love me so much. Sometimes I sleep next to my puppy siblings and this morning I woke up sleeping next to our cat!! Did you hear me – our cat! She saw me and started purring. I think she must like me..

Diane and Paul and “the BIG dogs”!

November 1, 2017

Wow! The best part of the whole trip! We got to run and wander, and there were so many new smells! Best of all I chased after my big sister and my brother Lincoln ran and played with me! We could hear the “big dogs” but Mom decided we should wait until our next visit to “play” with them!

Thank you Aunt Diane and Uncle Paul for letting us visit! I can hardly wait to come back again! Can we Mom! Can we?!

First Stop! Beef Pick-up!

November 1, 2017

First stop! Ohh! Such a fun drive! I slept most of the way. But so did my Dad. Not to worry Mom was driving! We got out and walked while Dad packed up the big white chests and guess what! Dad even had them prepare some dog bones for us! Now onto our next stop. I’m enjoying being with my sister and brothers on this fun adventure! Even Tesla is letting me sit close to him!

Musings: Road Trip!

November 1, 2017

Day Five with my new family and I hear the words – “Road Trip!! The last time I was on a road trip was the long trip when I first arrived. But this seems to be different and I am not afraid.. But before we leave we need to be sure Porsche has her medicine and as you can see we all like to help Dad with this..

First stop – Einstein’s Bagels for a breakfast sandwich for Mom and Dad – I wonder if we will get a bite?! Then it is on to places called Redmond and Sisters. We are picking up something called a side of beef.. I’m not sure what this is, but I hear I would like this. Then we will stop at our friends, Diane and Paul. I am a little nervous meeting new people. But Mom said they and their place are really cool and they have “huge” puppies!

Our Dad built us a cool fort in the back of the SUV where we are secured and I am cuddled up sleeping in my bed. Lincoln is nervous, but Porsche and Tesla are both mellow, so, so me too!

Will check in later!

Musings: Halloween! Trick or Treat! Yumm Treats!

October 31, 2017

What an amazing Day Four with my new family!

I got to ride in the car with my Mom and then later with my Dad. I went to the Puppy Spa and met my new MurrayHill family, they were so nice! Joni gave me a bath, and cut my hair and nails – I look and feel fabulous!! I think I am going to like my regular Spa visits. We even discovered that I have a really cool beauty mark – a single black stripe between my eyes. Can you see this?

It was so exciting tonight. A lot of people came to our house and my Dad would say “trick or treat”! Every time he said “treat” I jumped up and was waiting.  Like all the little kids coming to the door, we got to wear our Ewok costumes (except for my big sister, who is our Princess). Mom took pictures (she likes to take pictures of us!) and then Mom and Dad gave us treats.

I did really well with all the kids coming to our door and wasn’t at all scared! Dad looked like a big dog. But silly Dad! He forgot his big bushy tail! You can’t be a real dog without a tail!

Now I’m snuggled up next to Mom and ready to go to sleep after a wonderful day! I wonder what is in store for me tomorrow.
