Musings: Good Morning World!

October 28, 2017

Good morning all! This is Shelby. I had a bit of a restless night. I really didn’t like being in the crate and away from “my new people” and my new Dad let me come up to be close to him. I stayed on the bed for a while, got down and slept on top of his jeans for a while, and then I decided I needed to check out my new forever home. I am getting use to the new smells and all the different rooms, so it seems less scary. Mom and Dad left water out for me and these white sheets on the floor. I am pretty sure they are pads for me to go potty, because they were by the door. I sure hope so, because I needed to use them!

Mom sleeps very light and could hear me walking about. She got up and brought me back to sleep next to her. I am pretty sure this will be my new favorite place for sleeping. All of the other pups and even the cat are settled on the bed. If there were more of us, Mom and Dad would definitely need a bigger bed!

I wonder what today has in store for me??

Musings: Shelby Begins to Find Her Voice

October 27, 2017

Hello all – this is Shelby.. My new Mom said it was time for bed. I am not really sure where I am supposed to sleep. But everyone, Mom, Dad and the three other puppies (my new brothers and sister) and even a cat(!) are all headed down the hall to a new room I haven’t visited yet. I guess I will go with them to find out what is behind that big door!

It has been a scary and at times uncertain two days. I left my Foster Mom two days ago and started a long road journey finally arriving at this new house to two new people who seem nice. But I am still scared. They are letting me settled in at my own pace, not rushing me, letting me sit with them. My new brothers and my new sisters are eyeing me. But no one really wants to play. But I did get this really cool new squeaky toy!

While scary, I have quickly learned that these new people were already were in love with me. Imagine this. People love me who had never met me before. I’m not sure what to expect. But I think I am going to love this new phase of my life.

From Mom: Shelby Arrives to Her New Forever Home

October 27, 2017

The new pup, Shelby, arrived about 530. She is tentative, but settling in. She wasn’t so sure at first, but readily stopped shaking once she was lying in my arms. A bit of a nervous tummy from being afraid and all the travel today. She is staying close to Mom, lying on her puppy bed on the couch. Tesla has moved onto my lap. Definitely establishing himself as being mine (or me his). Porsche and Lincoln just hanging out near by with no real concerns. Shelby is definitely one tired pup.

Preparing for Shelby’s Arrival

October 26, 2017

Thank you all for the wonderful outpouring of affection for the adoption of our new girl Shelby (AKA – CoCo Chanel). She already has a wonderful “fan club”! We are working through the logistics and hoping she will be joining us very soon.

Some of you have asked for the link for ShihTzu adoptions. Once you go to this website  http://shihtzu.rescueme.org/  – select – New Locations. This will take you to a map of the US where you can locate information about the pups that are currently available and need to find forever homes. The pups are located with different rescue organizations – for us we were connected with JourneyHome Rescue in Washington (they also have a FB site). They have been very good to work with!

There are so many sweet pups in need of forever homes – maybe you will find the perfect pup for you!

From Mom: Shelby Chooses Her Forever Family

October 23, 2017

Walking out of class tonight, this email literally brought me to tears!

Please meet our “new addition”! Miss Shelby (AKA – CoCo Chanel)!

Craig named this sweet girl – keeping with our “car” theme perfectly!

Working out the logistics, but we hope to have this sweet 10 month old joining our humble home very soon! Our pups and hopefully the cat are very excited to be welcoming their new little sister!

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me! This Blog site is about our newest rescue Shelby, a wonderful 10 month old Shih Tzu. Abandoned in a “kill shelter” and saved by the wonderful people of JourneyHome Rescue. But it is dedicated to all rescues and the loving people who provide them with forever homes and families.

I hope you will find enjoyment in following the path of our sweet rescue girl as she explores this at times scary new world.

Saving one puppy will not change the world, but for this one puppy the world will be changed forever.  Author Unknown

A quick guide:

Musings are the longer posts where Shelby shares her perspectives on puppy life, her siblings and on occasion her human parents. All other items are snippets of her everyday life. Unless of course, there is a message “From Mom”!  Enjoy!
