Musings: We Are Sitting in Vigil…

December 31, 2017

Today has been about being with our big sister. It has been quiet in the house and Mom has spent nearly all day holding and comforting Porsche. There is no Animal Hospital in Newport. But Mom called the good people at Dove Lewis and talked with them about what is happening with Porsche.

Porsche loved the ocean and it was go good that yesterday on the beach was so much fun. Today, Mom has spent quiet time with my sweet sister watching the ocean and doing her best to keep Porsche comfortable. She talked softly to Porsche so she wouldn’t be scared and made sure she saw one final sunset, the final sunset of 2017. The photo with Dad was taken when we were here at Thanksgiving. She loved sitting on his lap watching the ocean.

Mom told me that Porsche is at the end of her life and that the cancer that has been inside of her since February is finally taking over. Mom explained that our lives have been blessed by this sweet soul, who has been with us nearly 11 more months than expected and at times disbelieving that the tumor they found was actually there, she has been so filled with life. As 2017 draws to a close we sit in vigil and pray she will soon rest easy. She knows she is loved and that Beemer is waiting for her.
